Honey Butter Biscuits (Church's Chicken Biscuits Copycat)

These biscuits are so addicting. Crispy and golden on the outside and layered to perfection on the inside. Best enjoyed with a drizzle of honey!

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 sticks slightly frozen butter put 2 sticks of butter in freezer about 1 hour before starting recipe
  • 2 tbsp softened butter
  • 1/3 cup honey

Instructions
 

  • Place 2 sticks of butter in the freezer about 1 hour prior to starting recipe
  • In a bowl mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and sugar
  • Take out butter sticks from freezer after about 1 hour. Place parchment paper under grater. Carefully grate frozen butter.
  • With a spatula, mix butter with dry ingredients. Freeze everything for 10 mins.
  • Take out of freezer and add cold buttermilk to mixture. Mix ~10 times.
  • Flour counter, rolling pin, and hands. Roll out dough into 1 1/4 inch thick rectangle. Fold dough in half. Roll dough out again and repeat folding process three more times.
  • Roll into 1 1/4 inch thick rectangle and cut out circles using floured cookie cutter.
  • Place biscuit rounds on a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Make sure biscuits are placed closely to each other (touching) to help biscuits rise. Place biscuits on baking sheet into freezer for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F
  • After 10 minutes have passed, take biscuits out of freezer and brush tops with melted butter.
  • Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Brush hot biscuits with honey butter glaze. Voilá, enjoy!

Honey butter glaze

  • Put 1 tbsp of butter and 1/3 cup of honey in a small sauce pan over low heat. Use spatula to mix. Take off heat once honey and butter has mixed together.

Notes

If you don't have a cookie cutter, you can use a can lid, empty can tin, or a drinking cup. Don't forget to flour whatever you are using to cut the dough with to prevent sticking. 
If you don't have a rolling pin, you can use a wine bottle! Just make sure to wipe the bottle clean and dust with flour before using.
