Caramelized sausage and onions mixed in a spicy ketchup sauce makes for the most delicious spicy sausage stir fry. Enjoy this quick and easy sausage dinner recipe with a hot bowl of rice or with Hawaiian rolls as mini hot dog sliders. You can use any sausage you have on hand. This recipe uses Lit’l smokies. However, this sausage recipe is just as delicious made with chicken sausages, Cajun style andouille sausages, or even classic franks. You can also add in bell peppers for an extra crunch!
What you need to make this spicy sausage recipe
- 2 cups bite-sized sausages
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1/2 medium onion
- cooking oil
- 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp sriracha hot sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp chicken bouillon
- dash of white pepper
- 1/4 cup water
How to make this easy sausage recipe
- Cut sausage into bite-sized pieces. Cut onions and garlic into thin slices. Set aside.
- In a small bowl prepare spicy stir fry sauce by mixing together 3 tablespoons sriracha, 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon (or salt), and dash of white pepper. Set aside.
- In a frying pan, heat up 2 tablespoons of cooking oil using medium high heat. Add sausages to the pan and cook until golden and crispy (about 3 minutes). Remove from pan when completely cooked.
- Add 1/2 tablespoon of unsalted butter to the frying pan. Using low heat, melt butter. Once butter has melted, add in onions and garlic. Stir and cook until tender (about 1 minute).
- Add in stir fry sauce and 1/4 cup of water. Bring to a boil and then add sausages back into the pan. Cook for another 1 minute or until all the sausages have been equally coated by the thick stir fry sauce.
- Turn off heat and serve over a hot bowl of white rice or with mini Hawaiian rolls as spicy hot dog sliders!
